The people's jury
In keeping with the theme of the festival, which is very much cinema-for-the-masses, Cinema Festa di Roma will be taking its fifty-strong jury from the general public.
How the jury is selected
Although jury duty at the festival is open to the general public, that doesn't mean it's easy to get involved... Between March 13th and April 30th, cinemas around Rome will have special cards available in their foyers. These cards need to be filled out and stamped each time you go to the cinema during that period - and you need eight stamps to qualify. The cards are then to be sent away, complete with a short self-profile and the descriptions of three scenes (from those eight movies) that you found particularly impressive. You must also be over eighteen.
It's quite a task, but it should do the job of narrowing the applicants down to the real film-buffs living in Rome. It probably won't do the box-office takings any harm, either.
The foyer cards will account for 40 members of the jury. An additional 5 will be found by CIAK magazine, and the final 5 will be selected by MTV.
